You've may already be an Amazon S3 user, or maybe you have heard all the buzz, and were wondering how you could

take advantage of this amazingly cheap robust, storage "in the cloud".

Now with RoboCal, you have a motivation to go sign up, and begin to take advantage of Amazon's offering.

Our philosophy is to let you be the owner of your own voice notes files, so that we don't have to bother you about your usage.

In S3 terms, a storage location is called a bucket. You can create as many buckets as you wish, and use them for whatever you wish, but all RoboCal needs is a single bucket where you set up the permissions so that RoboCal can write to it.

To configure and use S3, we recommend the  S3 Firefox Organizer. Using this browser plugin, you'll be able to create a special bucket, just for RoboCal, and set it up with the correct permission.

Here's what you do

* Sign yourself up for Amazon S3

* Download and install S3 Firefox Organizer

* Create a bucket, that will be devoted to your RoboCal use. We suggest you name it something like USERIDUM_voicenotes where USERIDNUm is your RoboCal userid number. Believe it or not names of buckets need to be totally unique. (So chances are, "my_bucket" is already taken)

* Using S3 Firefox Organizer, "Edit the ACL" of your bucket. Give the user egilchri@gmail.com full read and write permissions to the bucket.

* Go back to RoboCal, and login. Choose the link called "Setup your S3 Storage". There you enter in the name of your S3 bucket, and press Submit.

That's it. You should be now setup with S3 storage for RoboCal. You'll be amazed that for pennies per month, you can store and use dozens of voice notes, canned driving directions, recipes, or whatever.
